The Department of Fishery Engineering is a cornerstone of the College of Fishery Science, Udgir, established in 2006. The department focuses on studies in fish harvesting technologies, aquaculture systems, water management, and mechanization to improve fisheries productivity. This department plays a pivotal role in undergraduate teaching, research, and extension activities. Adhering to the recommendations of the Sixth Dean Committee, the department is well-equipped with five laboratory sections viz. Fishing Gear Technology, Fishing Craft Technology, Refrigeration Engineering, Navigation and Seamanship and Aquaculture Engineering. The department also provides technical support to fish farmers, policymakers, and industries to enhance sustainable fisheries development and resource management.

1.) Fishing Gear Technology section: This section is well equipped with different net models, floats, sinkers, anchors, hooks, squid jig, etc. and, net mending facilities is also available
2.) Fishing Craft Technology section: This section comprises of scale model of Trawler, Purse-seiner, Gill netter, Troller
and other traditional fishing vessels. The Craft Technology section have working diesel engine cutout model.
The department is also have two FRP fishing vessels and one out of which is equipped with outboard engine.
3.) Refrigeration Engineering section: This section is designed to provide hands-on training in refrigeration, cold storage and ice plant.
Students gain practical experience while operating the working refrigeration models,
ensuring they graduate with invaluable skills.
4.) Navigation and Seamanship Engineering section: This section is having all basic to advanced instruments like Navigational charts,
Fire-fighting equipment’s, GPS, Compass, Binoculars, Chart plotter, Fish Finder for conducting under-graduate level practical’s related
to Navigation and seamanship.
5.) Aquaculture Engineering section: This section in the laboratory is equipped
with all surveying instruments like chain survey, compass survey, plain table survey, Theodolite, Auto Level, cutout models of pumps, etc.
